What on Earth is Candid Thoughts and a Bowl of Veggies About?

It’s out! Candid Thoughts and a Bowl of Veggies!

I have been noticing that I haven’t been really inspired to write on Keeping Myself Busy in the last few months. After some time thinking about it, I realized that the reason I wasn’t feeling inspired is that I am not the same person who wanted to just keep busy.
So after some time – and the help of good friends, I came up with a whole new concept for my blog, which also meant a new blog name: Candid Thoughts and a Bowl of Veggies.

In a nut shell, if you enjoy Keeping Myself Busy, you are going to love Candid Thoughts and a Bowl of Veggies. I know… I know… the name is a mouthful, but it’s catchy, right? Keeping Myself Busy will be alive for a while, and I’ll continue to post every now and again, but soon I’ll transition to the new blog.

So check out the first post on Candid Thoughts and Bowl of Veggies!

Candid Thoughts and a Bowl of Veggies

3 1/2 years ago I made a decision that impacted my life immensely: To marry my (at the time) boyfriend. This meant quitting my job and moving to the United States. The problem is that my visa status forced me into early retirement. I’m not going to bore you with the details of the legality and issues concerning that fact that I can’t legally work, trust me! Even though it was a tough decision to make, I don’t regret it. It took me to where I am now – and more importantly, who I am now.

So, for the last three years, I’ve been coping with my retirement – and it’s not easy. In a nut shell, I have to constantly be aware of my emotions and thoughts to make sure that I’m not depressed. Sounds like I’m exaggerating, but not really. I’ve hit a few low moments and struggled…

Three Weeks in Orange County

It's been about three weeks since my husband and I moved to Orange County and I'm already loving it. We moved to a decent-size townhome on UC Irvine's campus - my husband is starting classes at the end of September. It's been a short time here, but a lot has happened. The move from NorCal … Continue reading Three Weeks in Orange County

How I Started to Wanderlust

My very first memory as a small infant is on an airplane with my family while we were moving to Europe for my dad's graduate studies. I remember camping with my family in Europe and seeing some sights that most people only dream of seeing. I blame my need for Wanderlust on that experience. Being just … Continue reading How I Started to Wanderlust

To All The Interesting People In The World!

The last few months I've been a bit absent from blogging. Family visiting, logic, volunteering, holidays, and so forth. I do plan on blogging about all that, but it will take me some time to catch up. That said, during these last few months I was still thinking about ways to take Keeping Myself Busy … Continue reading To All The Interesting People In The World!

Life gave me a Partner that I did not expect. We've been together for almost four years and it feels like much more than that. For some reason, ever since we met, things just made sense. He's not only my husband but my best friend. He knows exactly what's going on my mind, sometimes even before I've … Continue reading Partner

State of Mind: Stillness

reading on an ipad

Lately, my State of Mind has been a sort of weird feeling of numbness. Or at least this is what people keep telling me nowadays. I've been told that I don't often express my emotions, or that I don't show people how happy I am, or that they are worried because I get neither excited nor … Continue reading State of Mind: Stillness

Happy Birhday to Me!

It’s my birthday today! I am now 31-years-old! Can you believe that?! I sure can’t. I have never pictured myself as an actual grown-up and I guess that being 31 makes it impossible to pretend I’m not. I have pictured myself as a 30-year-old person, and I was fine with that last year. But turning … Continue reading Happy Birhday to Me!

To My Valentine

Even though today is not Valentine's Day in Brazil, we have been bombarded by pink and red hearts ever since the new year started. This makes it impossible to not take some time to tell my valentine how much I love him. He is my first love and hopefully my last. And the more I … Continue reading To My Valentine
